Long COVID: New evidence for cause of fatigue syndrome

In a multi-omics approach (proteomics, lipidomics and metabolomics, supported by biocrates‘ MxP Quant 500 kit), researchers at the Joint Metabolome Facility of the University of Vienna and the Medical University of Vienna report a signature that adds to our mechanistic understanding of the biochemical process involved in long COVID syndrome (LCS). Most importantly, the signature could be used for diagnosis and patient monitoring.

The study presents new evidence of triggers for fatigue following SARS-COV-2 infection, showing that an exaggerated anti-inflammatory response is likely to be responsible for LCS.
