WP1 LCS Cohort & Guidelines
Leader: HUS
The main objective of WP1 is to study the clinical characteristics, prognosis, incidence and health care burden of Long Covid Syndrome (LCS) based on 6 cohorts (4 in Finland, 1 in the Netherlands and 1 in Switzerland).
WP2 Mechanistic and Pathogenetic Studies
Leader: UH
WP2 examines samples from LCS patients for symptom-related changes that can infer pathogenic mechanisms. This WP will employ various techniques such as virology, serology, platelet and coagulation activity, immunophenotyping and microbiome research to find indicators of possible mechanisms behind LCS.
WP3 LCS Translational Biomarker Studies
Leader: PROTOBIOS
WP3 develops robust and validated tools and analytical methods to translate the obtained data from system-wide technologies into mechanistic insights about the immune system dynamics, related to different conditions associated with the progression of LC.
WP4 LCS Interventional Studies
Leader: UNIBAS
WP4 aims to perform clinical intervention studies to provide proof of feasibility and evidence of efficacy of therapeutic management strategies for patients with LCS to be derived from the findings of the consortium.
WP5 Biomarker Prediction and Patient Stratification
Leader: NEC
WP5 will focus on the AI-based biomarker discovery on multimodal data, with a focus on explainability methodologies for interpreting the model results. The work in WP5 will be performed in close interaction with WP3 however, the parameters and outcomes will be collected from WP1, WP2, and WP3.
WP6 Data Infrastructure, Processing and GUI
Leader: NUROMEDIA
WP6 will establish an LC data portal to collect the data for LCS research, develop novel methods for harmonizing and accessing integrated data for distributed data analyses, develop Static and Interactive graphic user interface infographics for patients, clinicians, and researchers, and develop an Artificial Intelligence (AI) informed LC prediction support tool (LCPS).
WP7 Ethics and Privacy
Leader: CHINO
WP7 will manage Ethics and Data security issues in the project, ensuring that all AI-based decision support tools developed in the project are ethical and trustworthy. Further, WP7 will handle General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) compliance and demonstrate how the architecture developed is completely compliant with GDPR and that data is stored in a suitably robust manner.
WP8 Dissemination and Exploitation
Leader: SEZ
WP8 ensures transparent and successful dissemination, communication, and exploitation of the project’s results. This includes effective dissemination and communication of the project results to industry, media, the scientific community, and the general public.
WP9 Project Management
Leader: SPINVERSE
WP9 works to ensure that the project results & outcomes are delivered in a timely manner, reaching the expected impacts. Additionally, this WP provides efficient administrative and financial management of the project in compliance with contractual commitments.
