Persistence of somatic symptoms after COVID-19 in the Netherlands: an observational cohort study

Researchers at the UMCG (University Medical Center Groningen, Netherlands) have recently published a very interesting article in The Lancet about the long-term symptoms related to COVID-19 infection. This publication is based on data collected within Lifelines_NL, an observational cohort study examining the health and health-related behaviours of people living in the north of the Netherlands.

This relevant article aimed to analyse the nature, prevalence, and severity of long-term symptoms related to COVID-19, while correcting for symptoms present before SARS-CoV-2 infection and controlling for the symptom dynamics in the population without infection.

UMCG is an official partner in the Long COVID Project. Within the project, it will conduct the cohort and clinical studies in Lifelines_NL (Netherlands). In total, 6 cohorts are involved in the Long COVID project: four in Finland, one in the Netherlands and one in Switzerland.
