Long COVID: The Persistence of SARS-CoV-2 in the Mucous Membranes May Be A Factor

In new research recently published by Nature Communication, teams from Inserm and Université Paris Cité médecine, in collaboration with Universidade do Minho (Portugal), have shown that Long COVID could be explained biologically by abnormalities of the immune system associated with the persistence of the virus in the mucous membranes. These findings could pave the way for a diagnostic tool for Long COVID in the longer term.
