A new study from Germany analysed the differences in cortical thickness between clinical subgroups based on 3T-MRI scans & signature inflammatory markers in n=120 participants comprising (1) healthy never-infected controls, (2) healthy COVID-19 survivors, and (3) subgroups of Long COVID patients with and without cognitive impairment according to screening with Montreal Cognitive Assessment. The study identified distinct cortical areas showing a progressive increase in cortical thickness across different groups.
