Cohorts in the Long COVID Project

The Long COVID project aims to understand the mechanisms of the Long COVID Syndrome (LCS). Clinical data and samples will be collected from different cohorts to be transferred to several laboratories (within the Long COVID consortium) for the implementation of mechanistic, biomarker and interventional studies.

Up to six cohorts from three different countries are involved in the project:

Finland
Cohort 1 – Registry linkage cohort from the Finnish National Centre for Health and Welfare (NCHW)
Cohort 2 – LC policlinic – Helsingin ja Uudenmaan sairaanhoitopiiri – Hospital District of Helsinki and Uusimaa (HUS)
Cohort 3 – ClinCOVID Cohort – University of Helsinki
Cohort 4 – ICU Cohort –University of Helsinki

The Netherlands
Cohort 5 – Lifelines_NL – Dutch population cohort (UMCG – Groningen)

Switzerland
Cohort 6 – Basel LC Syndrome Cohort (BALCoS) – University of Basel

Following this ambitious approach, to ensure the correct exchange of samples and personal data between specific partners and their future use, a Joint Controllership Agreement has been put in place by partner Chino.io
