The Stereotypic Response of the Pulmonary Vasculature to Respiratory Viral Infections: Findings in Mouse Models of SARS-CoV-2, Influenza A and Gammaherpesvirus Infections

The 2nd official peer-reviewed article generated by the Long COVID project has just been published by Viruses MDPI: The Stereotypic Response of the Pulmonary Vasculature to Respiratory Viral Infections: Findings in Mouse Models of SARS-CoV-2, Influenza A and Gammaherpesvirus Infection.

This publication shows that respiratory virus infections (SARS-CoV-2, IAV, MHV-68) of mice initiate a stereotypic pulmonary vascular response, mediated by arteries and veins, without endothelial infection. As indicated by the authors, this may have implications for the treatment and management of respiratory disease in humans.

This study is the result of the collaboration between two official partners of the project (University of ZurichUniversity of Helsinki) and the University of Liverpool.
